Service on light rail line 15 commences on 21 October 2023

Service on light rail line 15 between Itäkeskus in Helsinki and Keilaniemi in Espoo is set to commence on Saturday 21 October. The new, 25-kilometre-long track will bring trams to entirely new areas and offer transfer connections for both the metro and commuter trains.

There are 34 stops along the new light rail line. The line connects Itäkeskus, Aalto University and Keilaniemi metro stations and Oulunkylä, Huopalahti and Leppävaara railway stations.

The light rail line will replace trunk bus line 550. However, the bus line and light rail line 15 will operate concurrently for some time before line 550 is discontinued by the end of the year.

Going forward, information about the operation of light rail line 15 will be provided by HSL, Metropolitan Area Transport Ltd and the Cities of Helsinki and Espoo. The communication channels of the Jokeri Light Rail project will be closed by the end of September.
